Poole Hospital Cancer Treatment Trust Awarded Poole Achievement Award

Every year the Mayor and Poole Borough Council make awards to voluntary organisations who carry out exceptional work on behalf of others on a voluntary basis. We are delighted to advise that the Trust has been awarded one of the awards for 2014/2015 by the Mayor Cllr Peter Adams at a reception at Upton house in March 2015. This is in acknowledgement of the work undertaken by the existing members of the Trust and their predecessors over the past 30 years since the trust was set up by Mrs Lewis Manning.

We are delighted to receive this acknowledgement of our efforts – we are a voluntary organisation and all of our members give of their time freely. The pictures below show Chairman Stuart Dean and Secretary Pat Whitehead receiving the award from the Mayor Cllr Peter Adams.

Friends of the Scanner Appeal

Over many years our team of volunteers have been raising funds by collections at various venues normally close to the Poole centre area to assist our hospital to carry out treatment and research into cancer.

We are endeavouring to raise these funds in difficult times for the NHS and are looking for more FRIENDS of the SCANNER APPEAL to help us in these collections and other events. There is no financial commitment whatsoever, we are just looking for a little of your time.

All members of our committee are unpaid volunteers unlike many charities both locally and nationally.

We are in need of your help now so that we can continue to help you, your family and those like you in the future.

Contact me by email or phone 01202 888895 if you are willing to give a little of your time.

Donations to Poole Hospital Cancer Treatment Trust

Over recent weeks articles in the national press have highlighted that leaders of some of the biggest charities in the UK have taken large increases in their already large salaries while donations into their charities are falling.

The number of executives of charities receiving six-figure salaries at the UK’s 14 leading foreign aid charities have risen by nearly 60 per cent. Eleven executives receive in excess of £142,500 a year equivalent to the Prime Minister’s salary.

Those who donate their hard-earned income are keen that their sums should be delivering services rather than paying executives high salaries. The trustees of Poole Scanner Appeal/Poole Hospital Cancer Treatment Trust are not remunerated in any respect for their endeavours – it has a team of volunteers who devote their time and efforts to ensure that all the money which is so generously donated is invested in purchasing equipment and other items to further the treatment of cancer at Poole Hospital at minimum expense.

Please also note that unlike many national charities we do not supply donors details to any third party.
